AN ARAB SABRE
With 19th Century Persian blade of watered steel decorated with a series of calligraphic cartouches damascened in gold in the 17th Century fashion, and the back-edge damascened with a series of religous verses along both sides (small patches of surface rust), gilt metal hilt formed with a pair of quillons set with pastes in imitation of diamonds and the pommel decorated en suite, in its original scabbard entirely encased in gilt metal embossed with small rosettes throughout, enclosing panels of further pious verses and set with additional pastes at the suspension rings.
