AN ART NOUVEAU ENAMEL AND MULTI-GEM BUTTERFLY, BY BOUCHERON
Designed as a butterfly, with a cushion-cut aquamarine and cabochon opal body, extending blue and green plique-á-jour enamel wings, enhanced by cabochon rubies and calibré-cut emeralds, accented by a collet-set diamond and gold wirework detail, mounted in gold, 1900, with maker's mark, with detachable brooch fitting of later addition

Lot Essay

This butterfly originally decorated a hair comb and was created in November 1900. Several gemstones were replaced at the time of purchase and a detachable brooch fitting was later added.
