AN ATTIC BLACK-FIGURED BAND CUP

One side centered with a combat between two warriors, each wearing a linen corselet, armed with a shield, a crested Corinthian helmet and a spear, the warrior to the right with five dots as the blazon of his shield, a woman standing between them in a white chiton, the group framed by two veiled female onlookers, a standing man behind the woman to the left, a horseman to the right and left, and another man at the far left with a red chlamys draped over his left arm, imitation inscriptions crowd the field; the other side with a similar combat in the center, the warrior to the right with a rosette as the shield blazon, a bearded man in a white chiton between them, the group framed by two veiled women, two horsemen, and two men each with a red chlamys draped over their arms; with a palmette on either side of the handles, details in added red and white, a reserved band below, the reserved tondo with a circle in the center
