The Midland Counties Railway (MCR) was an early railway company in the United Kingdom which existed between 1832 and 1844, connecting Nottingham, Leicester and Derby with Rugby and thence to London. The MCR system connected with the North Midland Railway and the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway in Derby. The three later became the foundation of the Midland Railway.
