Lot Essay

This wonderfully dynamic carpet was formerly in the New York apartment of Contessa Susanna Rattazzi (d.2009). It was decorated by Mark Hampton in co-operation with Robert Denning and Vincent Fourcade in the early 1970s. Born in Turin in 1922, Contessa Rattazzi was the daughter of Edoardo Agnelli, founder of Fiat S.p.A.
