The hood with opposing cherubs cresting, terms flanking the hood and caryatids flanking the door, with lion-headed scrolls to the plinths, elaborately carved overall to front and sides, square dial with mask and foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed MAPLE & CO.LTD LONDON, matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring, chime/silent and four gongs/eight bells selection levers to the side, the eight day three train movement with dead beat escapement, hour strike on gong and quarter chimes on four gongs or eight bells -- 106½ in. (271 cm.) high; steel rod pendulum, three brass weights, winding key, case key
