AN ETRUSCAN AMPHORA
Circa Late 7th-Early 6th Century B.C.
Ovoid in form on a torus foot, with a cylindrical neck and off-set lip, painted in orange-red slip mottled to black in places, each side of the shoulders with a pair of doves, an outline of dots before them with a line of horizontal dots between them (a double line on one side), a small dove facing right between them on one side, a broad band below framed by a thin line above and below, red on the foot, a line above, a broad band at the join of the body to the neck framed above and below by dots, red on the lip, and dots on the double reeded handles
