AN ETRUSCAN BRONZE WARRIOR
Circa 450-400 B.C.
Doffing his high-crested, crenellated Corinthian helmet, wearing a cuirass over a short pleated tunic, the cuirass with two antithetical scrolls in relief on the upper chest, standing with his weight on his right leg, his advanced left leg bent at the knee, his right arm raised to remove his helmet, the left arm held out with a shield strapped to it, the shield with an incised chevron pattern on the interior, his head angled down and slightly inclined to the right, his hair in short wavy locks, standing on a profiled double ring base decorated with beading and a tongue pattern on the sides, perhaps originally serving as a candelabrum finial
