These lots have been imported from outside the EU … Read more The Asprey gunrooms, producer of fine-guns since 1987, recently closed down in September 1996. The craftsmen included several ex-Holland & Holland workers and the gunroom was headed up by Tony Pritchard, a Royal Navy and then oilfield diver and a former shooting-estate manager. Both President Bush and Generals Schwarzkopf and Franks are keen enthusiasts of Asprey guns, together with the Prince of Wales, who after breaking his shoulder in a Polo game, referred to his 28-bore Asprey grouse guns as his "pea-shooters". These four magnificent guns in 12-, 16- and 20-bore, were all completed in the white during the gunroom's final year of activity and as such mark the end of a tradition of impeccably executed gun craft. The project was recently brought to life when Lord Bruce Dundas, Managing Director of Asprey UK and Europe, decided to turn these parts into full guns thus producing a small number of guns by Asprey officially to be the last under the old regime. With Mark Sullivan as their lead and Lord Bruce Dundas acting as quality control, the former craftsmen were brought back to complete the guns to the same exacting standards as ever. They now offer the purchaser the final chance to obtain a part of the company's small and exclusive history.

Action and furniture fully engraved in best quality traditional Asprey style scrolled acanthus leaf, gold inlaid "ASPREY LONDON" to action base, cocking indicators, gold inlaid automatic safety, single-trigger, rolled edge trigger guard, boldly figured stock, Anson pattern forend, the chopper-lump barrels with sunk game rib and gold inlaid name.
Weight 5lb. 14½oz., 15in. stock, 28in. barrels, chokes approx. ¾ & full, 2¾in. chambers, nitro proof
