the majority relating to his career in the United States of America as trainer with the USA International side and Brooklyn Wanderers, including fixture card, official 1930 World Cup passes, letters, memos, black and white photgraphs, press cuttings etc relating to the 1930 World Cup finals in Uruguay, the collection also includes letters relating to his early days as trainer with Parkhead F.C., testimonial letters from Celtic F.C. United Scottish Amateur Boxing Association, Springburn Athletic Club, Irish Amateur Athletic Association etc, a collection of letters, an enamel lapel badge and a complimentary ticket stub relating the the Charlton Athletic F.C. Tour of Canada and USA etc, all contained within an album, the majority stuck down

The above lot relates to the career of trainer John Coll, born in Downpatrick, County Down in 1893 at eight years old his family moved to Scotland. His first job as a trainer was with Springburn White Rose in 1912 and following on from that spent two seasons with Townhead Bunburbs, in 1915 he was appointed to look after the Parkhead team of Glasgow, at that time the club was one of the leading sides in Junior football. He spent sevens years with the club and helped them to every major honour in the Scottish Junior game. In 1922 he made the move to the United States of America and had spells as trainer with Scullion Steel, National Giants, Bricklayers eleven, and Vesper Buicks and in season 1924-25 joined the Brooklyn Wanderers and whilst with the Brooklyn Wanderers he was selected to train the United States International side for matches including the inaugural 1930 World Cup Finals in Uruguay
