An extremely fine and historic contemporary late 19th century 6 5/8in. gauge model based on a Great Northern Railway Sturrock 2-2-2 locomotive and tender as modified by P. Stirling, modelled by E.W. Twining and carefully restored by M. Frost-18in. x 68in. (45.5cm x 172.5cm). Complete with riveted, soft solder caulked copper boiler with original fittings including water and pressure gauges, safety, blower, injector, steam brake, whistle and clack valves. Chassis details include inside cylinders with Stephenson's link reverse with counterbalance weight shaft, valve spindle tail shaft guides, delicately shaped connecting rods with bolted and strapped big ends with split brasses, footplate-controlled draincocks, smokebox mounted decorative displacement lubricators, working leaf springs, injector, spectacle plate mounted whistle, steam-operated brake gear, sanding boxes, wooden cab floor, riveting, plated oak buffer beam, steps, hand and lamp irons. Tender details include working leaf springs, hand-operated brake gear, watercock, axle boxes with oil box covers, riveting, steps and hand irons. Finished in G.N.R. livery and lining of the period.
