AN IMARI 'DAME AU PARASOL' PLATE
The first circa 1735
Designed with the well-known 'La Dame au Parasol' motif by Cornelis Pronk, a lady and her parasol-bearer standing before waterfowl on a grassy riverbank, the sides decorated with a honeycomb-pattern ground reserved with shaped cartouches of waterfowl and ladies, the reverse with various insects in underglaze blue, 23 cm. diam.; a pair of Imari plates painted and gilt with a central flower vase, the everted rim decorated with flowers and scroll-work, 22.4 cm. diam.; and a pair of small wucai baluster vases and wood covers, 17 cm. high (5)
