The shaped cresting with overhanging molded cornice above a pair of arched doors above a fitted interior of drawers and upper compartments, the base with slant front enclosing a fitted interior above three drawers, flanked by shaped canted corners with overall shaped panelling, on rectangular feet, interior of top refitted, back feet partially replaced

Lot Essay

This impressive bureau cabinet, with raised ebonized mouldings framing panels of richly figured walnut, typifies the output of Lombardy cabinet-makers in the mid-18th Century. Other related Lombardy cabinets are illustrated in S. Colombo, L'Arte del Legno e del Mobile in Italia, 1981, figs. 389-94.
