AN ITALIAN ETCHED IVORY PLAQUE
Depicting in the foreground a female figure with elaborately braided hair, possibly St. Cecilia, seated before a tree, her legs crossed, wearing a voluminous mantle and pointing her bare left foot at a musical score on the ground as she tunes her lute, flanked by a variety of wind and stringed instruments and on her right a seated stag, in the background stands a castle on a hill and a forest in front of which a figure with two dogs blows a hunting horn, etched SOMMARIVA EDOARDO IN CISA, in a modern molded giltwood frame with black velvet ground
