AN ITALIAN MAIOLICA SHELL-SHAPED DISH
17TH CENTURY
The interior painted with the Expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, with Cupid riding in a chariot, holding scales in one hand and flailing the naked Adam and Eve with a palm frond in the other, Adam and Eve depicted again on the right by a tree, Adam with a blue robe, the upper part of the shell painted with a peacock, the underside with paw feet (one paw foot detached, one lacking, very slight chipping to rim)
