The circular black marble top inlaid to the centre with the doves of Pliny, surrounded by eight further oval plaques depicting the Arch of Titus, the Pantheon, the Temple of Vesta, the Forum, Tivoli, St. Peter's Square, a tower, and the Colosseum within a specimen marble and hardstone geometric surround, above a tripod stem with scrolled legs, on brass castors
