Possibly by Cesare Lapini, Late 19th/Early 20th Century
The green-patinated bronze overthrow with scrolled supports and entwined vine ornament, the well head carved in the round in high relief with a Bacchic procession of cherubs and a panther-drawn chariot, on a stepped naturalistic base, on a six-piece stepped marble foot
36½ in. (93 cm.) high, excluding the overthrow; 46 in. (117 cm.) diameter
The overthrow: 62 in. (157.5 cm.) high

Lot Essay

A marble fountain, signed by Lapini and dated 1888, was offered in these Rooms, 30 May 1996, lot 270. Celebrated as a sculptor of genre figures and groups, Lapini excelled in his portrayal of young children.
