A closely related table is illustrated in Victor Chinnery, Oak Furniture The British Tradition, Woodbridge, 1979, p.454, fig.4.78, which is attributed to the Salisbury area. The detailed carving of the friezes and arcades are very similar though the geometrical motifs on the stretchers are more akin to the decoration attributed to the Dorset area, see lot 396 for comparison.
