AN 'ORIENTALIZING' PAINTED TERRACOTTA FRAGMENTARY RHYTON
ASIA MINOR, CIRCA LATE 6TH/EARLY 5TH CENTURY B.C.
In the form of a naked bust of a female, perhaps a Siren or goddess, her braided hair pulled back over her ears and held in place by a tilted flat-shaped headdress or crown, with expressive eyes and arching eyebrows, rouged cheeks, she wears a four-stranded choker and bracelets on her wrists, her hands cupped under her prominent breasts, the surviving lower part of the rhyton decorated in an alternating red and brown painted collar of interlocking rays with undulating terminal
