AN ORMOLU-MOUNTED SÈVRES 'OEIL-DE-PERDRIX' BLEU NOUVEAU VASE AND COVER
CIRCA 1775, INCISED SQUARE TO THE BASE

The gilt ball finial atop a blue and white gadrooned dome cover, the oviform vase with waisted neck similarly fluted, the shoulder gilt with a band of oak vine, the lower body gilt with similar vines outlining seeded comma-shaped flutes above a gilt and chased band of stiff leaf tips, the side handles as round knops suspending ribbon-entwined gilt foliate swags, the ribbons terminating in large bows above each knop at the shoulder, the waisted ormolu base with berried laurel wreath and raised on fluted pilaster feet (finial restick, tips of branches and one bow resuck and regilt, some flaking to the gilding)--17 3/8in. (44.2cm.) high
