An ottoman turkish astrolabic quadrant
Sulayman Hilmy, 1868
a wooden quadrant with markings in red and black, gilt decoration throughout, three cartouches to obverse, dated 1285 Hirja [=1868 CE] to upper left corner, ecliptic in red, divided horizon in black with gilt markings every 5°, a small diagram of unequal hours to the top right, the reverse with ornate sexagesimal trigonometric grid and floral cartouche, red painted edges.
