AN UNUSUAL CAST-IRON FIGURE OF AN OFFICIAL
DATED TO THE EIGHTH MONTH OF THE 9TH YEAR OF ZHENGDE, CORRESPONDING TO 1515, AND OF THE PERIOD
The official is shown stiffly seated on a throne with his hands resting on his knees. He is wearing heavy robes decorated on the front with a dragon and worn over his armor. His face is cast with a scowling expression below a knot-tied cloth cap. An inscription cast in relief on one side incorporates the date and the name of the maker, Zhou Shan, of Luzhou, and there are two characters, zhao [], on the other side.
