AN UNUSUAL PALE GREENISH-WHITE JADE DUCK-FORM VESSEL AND COVER
19th Century
Carved as a plump duck standing atop a rockwork base with lingzhi fungus and bamboo sprouting from the crevices, the bird facing forward and grasping a millet stalk in its beak, with bands of fine feather markings on the chest and tail, an oval aperture in the back of its well-hollowed body fitted with a small cover carved as a recumbent duckling with backward-turned head, the stone softly polished and of even pale greenish-white tone
