Lot Essay

The present composition, originally octagonal, can be dated towards the end of the 1650s, when Vaccaro combines influences of Reni, van Dyck and Rubens, in a very typical formula. It is possibly a collaboration with his son Nicolas.

We are grateful to Professor Riccardo Lattuada for confirming the attribution on the basis of a color photograph.
