ANNE BRIGMAN (1869-1950)
This and the following seven lots (283-289) are from a collection of Brigmans recently discovered in Upstate New York. Although the exact provenance has yet to be determined, because of the presence of a number of personal and casual portraits included in the group, it is likely that Brigman was very close to the sitters. Based on the dating of the prints, exhibition records and the variety of presentation, the photographs were collected over a number of years, probably dating from the mid 1920s to the mid 1930s. This selection of lots follows the successful sale of ten Brigmans from the same collection at Christie's on April 5, 2000.
