Lot Essay

William Fagg writing about this drum in 1986 stated: "This large drum is understood to come from the Osi-Ilorin area, and indeed the style shows it to come from the Ogboni house within about three miles of there. A carving in the upper register shows a reference to a schoolboy or teacher, and this is almost certainly a reference to the Government School at Omu which was founded about 1925 in the district."
