Lot Essay

In 1946, André Breton wrote the Surrealist classic, Jeunes Cérisiers Garantis Contre Les Liévres (Young Cherry Trees Secured Against Hares) illustrated with line drawings by Gorky and a cover by Marcel Duchamp. This Gorky drawing appears to be related to that noted Surrealist collaboration.
