Arabic manuscript on paper, 10ff. plus two modern fly-leaves, first folio with 34ll. of black naskh script, some words in red, the other folios with vertical tables in red ink marked in black and red naskh script, in modern gilt brown morocco binding, restored and now in very good condition overall

Lot Essay

The first lines of text on folio 1. gives the author's name as the time-keeper (muwaqqit) of the Umayyad Mosque, in Damascus. In his brief introduction, the author states that he is commenting on al-Marrakushi's (d. 1321) 67th chapter on the subject.
