Lot Essay

We are grateful to Professor R.E.O. Ekkart of the RKD, The Hague, for suggesting an attribution to Adriaen van der Linde on the basis of photographs (written communication, 19 March 2008). He compares the present picture to Child holding a little bell in the collection De Beaufort (see A. Wassenbergh, De portretkunst in Friesland in de zeventiende eeuw, Lochem, 1967, color plate II).
