Lot Essay

Daniel Ashford was one of two sons of the celebrated landscape painter William Ashford, P.R.H.A.. Little is known about him as an artist but he is recorded as exhibiting at Allen's, in Dame Street, in 1800. It has been suggested that the town in this view may be Carlow.
