We are grateful to Dr. Vlieghe of the Nationaal Centrum de Plastische Kunsten for the attribution on the basis of a photograph. He points out, in a letter dated 6 October 1992 that 'undeniably it shows the same handling as the oil sketch on paper for a Madonna of the Rosary, attributed to Rubens by D. Bodart (in exh. cat. Pietro Paolo Rubens, Padua, 1990, no. 77), but rightly and convincingly given to Boeckhorst by Michael Jaffé in his Burlington riveiw of the Padua exhibition
