MUSICAL: Johann STRAUSS the younger (on engraved title page of Promenade Quadrille), Nellie MELBA, Yehudi Menuhin, Victorien Sardou; LITERARY: George Gissing, John Galsworthy, Anatole France, Emile Zola (envelope only) and Marie Corelli; POLITICAL: David LLOYD GEORGE (1921, offering a knighthood), Richard COBDEN, Queen VICTORIA (1870, remitting the sentence of a deserter), Edward VII, Lord Randolph Churchill, Henry Grattan, 8th Duke of Devonshire (as Marquess of Hartington); ARTISTS: including Sir John Everett MILLAIS (1892, addressed to 'Mrs de Rothschild') and Benjamin Constant; and others including Sir Richard Owen and Amy Johnson (photograph signed), ;

approximately 160 items in total, including approximately 20 addressed to Mrs Leopold de Rothschild (and one fragment of a letter by her), and 7 addressed to Mrs [Arthur] Sassoon.

Marie Perugia (1862-1937), daughter of a Triest merchant, Achille Perugia, married Leopold de Rothschild in 1881. He sister Louise married Arthur Sassoon.
