A RARE AND IMPORTANT EARLY BIBLIOGRAPHY IN A FINE CONTEMPORARY BINDING. A compilation of the Augsburg bookseller Georg Willer's semi-annual catalogues of books offered at the Frankfurt book fair between 1564 and 1592, published by Nicolas Bassé. The first part describes the Latin books, printed throughout Europe, arranged by subject (ca. 10,500); the second lists the German books printed over the same period (ca. 5,500). Although the catalogues are dominated by theology (both Protestant and Catholic), they give an invaluable picture of the whole range of books on sale over these years, ranging from works of science, medicine and travel to different versions of the Faust story (pt. II, p. 302). The third part, a pamphlet of 60 pages lists ca. 600 books in Italian, Spanish and French. Breslauer & Folter 33.
