Lot Essay

Hartman was born in Kansas and studied at The Institute of Art in Chicago. He then travelled through Europe and studied at the Academy in Munich and also in Paris. He was a member of the Association of Chicago Artists, and a selection of his works can be found in the Brooklyn Museum.
