Lot Essay

Ever since emerging onto the Indonesian contemporary art scene a few years ago, Besta Bestrizal has quickly captured the imagination of viewers with his productive engagement between humanity, science and art. The artist's realistic and detailed rendering of details with charcoal affirms Bestrizal's place as one of the best emerging contemporary Indonesian figurative painter. In I Have Got It! (Lot 360), Bestrizal portrays the figure of a boy blowing bubbles. The transience and temporary nature of the bubbles are juxtaposed with the euphoric enthusiasm of the boy, after having finally succeeded in producing them; thus creating a sense of irony.
