Panama, Sitio Conte, env. 500-800 après J.C.
Large bol à panse enflée reposant sur un haut pied en terre cuite brune à engobe brun-rouge. Les anses du bol représentent deux joueurs de flûte aux bras stylisés se prolongeant par une ligne anguleuse au-dessus de la tête et décorée de motifs géométriques incisés comportant des incrustations de colorant blanc.

PANAMANIAN BROWNWARE PEDESTAL BOWL, CONTE STYLE
CA. A.D. 500-800
On flaring pedestal foot with sharply carinated bowl distinguished by the stylized janiform flute players, each musician in a trance-like state, chin jutting forward, stylized arms holding the flute to the mouth, the shoulders curving into the headdress framing the top of the head; the burnished surface in deep chocolate-reddish brown.
Such Panamanian ceramics are closely affiliated with both the Smoked ware ceramics of Sitio Conte and the Tairona of nearby Colombia.
