[BOYINGTON, Col. Gregory]
RICKENBACKER, Edward.
Letter signed ("Eddie Rickenbacker") to Gregory ('Pappa') Boyington, New York, March 18, 1946. 1 page, narrow quarto, on Eastern Airlines stationery, adhesive tape at corners, framed. The Ace of Aces of World War I, with more confirmed kills than any other American pilot, and now president of Eastern Airlines, writes Col. Boyington this excellent letter: "I was delighted to hear you were writing a book covering your World War II experiences as I am sure it will be most interesting and enlightening, particularly that part pertaining to your sojourn in the Japanese prison camp. Although I have been somewhat belated in congratulating you on being one of the first members of the Marine Air Force to equal my World War I record, due to your being a prisoner of war, I can assure you my thoughts are none-the-less sincere ... Not only do I wish you every success in the sale of your book "Black Sheep", but I trust that the future will hold for you and yours only the good things in life which you and every other member of the Armed Forces so justly deserve."
