Salt print from a waxed paper negative, 6 3/8 x 7 7/8 in., initialled C.H.W. in ink on recto, mounted on thin card, titled in pencil on mount.

Lot Essay

Waring exhibited a print from the same negative at the Photographic Society of London's 1854 exhibition, there titled 'Well, Langford Bay' and described as being made by the Talbot process. Twelve other images by Waring, mostly of views in Wales or Bristol were included in the ssame exhibition. A further fifteen examples were exhibited the following year. Other processes listed were calotype and collodion.
