Lot Essay

Built for the Prince Line by Short Bros. at Sunderland and completed in September 1893, Italian Prince was registered at 3,083 tons gross (1,998 net) and measured 339 feet in length with a 42 foot beam. After a successful career of 26 years, including war service, she caught fire soon after leaving Cyprus bound for Liverpool on 10th November 1920 and, although beached, became a total loss.
