Three full-page etched illustrations by Callot, 26 half-page illustrations by Callot, Antonio Tempesta, and Raffaelo Schiaminossi. (Nos. 16 and 17 of the half-page illustrations with vertical printing faults, small repaired tear to blank margin of C2.) 19th-century English dark blue morocco gilt, covers with centrally-placed 'HED' monogram surmounted by a Baron's coronet, flat spine titled in gilt, g.e. (light scuffing to extremities). Provenance: Pietro Ginori-Conti (armorial bookplate).

An important series in the canon of Callot's work: this record of the funeral of the Queen of Spain on 3 February 1612 (1611 according the old Florentine calendar) marks his first contact with the Medici court (the work was commissioned by Cosimo II, Grand Duke of Tuscany); it is the first recorded work of Callot's after his arrival in Florence and probably his first published etchings.
