Lot Essay

Musicians provided one of Pissarro's favorite subjects. Others are in the Banco Central de Venezuela, Caracas (Rewald, figs. 45-46) and the Museum of Fine Arts in Caracas (Boulton, p. 39).
San José was a small town situated not far from Galipan.
