Lot Essay

We are grateful to Dr. Francesca Baldassari for confirming the attribution of this hitherto unrecorded picture on the basis of transparencies. She notes that this work is reminiscent of Carlo Dolci's Angel Annunciate in the Musée du Louvre, Paris (see F. Baldassari, Carlo Dolci, Turin, 1995, pp. 124-5, no. 97, illustrated).
