This painting shows clear analogies with Carlo Francesco's Dido (Dresden, Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister) and Cephalus and Procris (private collection; see F.M. Ferro, Nuvolone, Soncino, 2003, pp. 357 and 360, figs. 39c and 42a).
