John Duncalfe recalls Sewell meeting Carlos Nadal in the 1980s: 'Brian Sewell, art critic for the London Evening Standard, wished to know why he had never before heard of this artist whose remarkable palette surely deserved to be as familiar world-wide as it was in Europe. He travelled with me to Barcelona to meet Nadal and kindly helped to make the selection for the exhibition that was to be held at the Soloman Gallery in London in 1987' (J.
