Birch, each numbered in gilt (lacking numbers 9, 16 and 22) and titled in manuscript with an indication of the number of horses required, some priced in pencil, tissue guards, hinged throughout, [mid-19th-century]. Contemporary diced calf gilt with silver clasp, the upper cover stamped in gilt "C. L. Birch, Great Queen Street, Lincolns Inn Fields" (rebacked preserving old spine). Provenance: A. W. Stocken & J. F. Stocken (early signatures on front pastedown) -- Mark Dineley (armorial bookplate) -- Col. Alexander (early pencil signature on rear endpaper).
