According to his diary Mackintosh spent 8 April exploring Naples, visiting Trinita Maggiore, Santa Chiara, the Duomo and Porta Capuana. Finally he came to Santa Maria del Carmine where he admired the interior and the tower which he sketched. As with the previous lot, he has dated the drawing 9 April 1891
