Lot Essay

This drawing appears to relate to the Hall-Parlour at 78 Derngate, Northampton and dates from 1915-16. No scale is indicated and so it is possible that it is an early idea for the wall decoration or for the screen which stood at the side of the street door. It is not clear whether the central oval shape is a three-dimensional object seen in flat elevation or whether it is part of the wall decoration.
