Lot Essay

A full size drawing for the face of a clock designed in 1917 for W.J. Bassett-Lowke. The inscriptions indicate Mackintosh's use of the plastic erinoid as one of the inlaid materials. The clock is now in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, Virginia, USA, Sidney and Frances Lewis Collection.
