Lot Essay

The group including negatives or copy negatives of some of Bowers' phtotographs from the southern journey to the top of the Beardmore, these films handed over to the First Supporting Party and returned by them to the hut at Cape Evans, where they were developed by Ponting. It appears that the negatives from Bowers' film taken on the Summit (and retrieved from the tent by the Search Party) are now lost.
