Born in 1989, Hong Kong artist Cheuk Ka-wai graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Visioning beyond the mundane use of everyday objects, Cheuk brings them to a novel light with her imaginative coupling of quaint objects and fresh embellishments. Her belief in a dimension that rests ‘between reality and illusion’ delivers a profusion of imaginative notions that permeate her work. With Cheuk’s meticulous fine-brush technique, the idiosyncratic and whimsical pairings of objects create ‘relationships of both the deliberate and fortuitous nature’. The Tale of Two, in eight parts, precisely speaks to the hidden dualities in our lives.
